A welcoming look

Wood offers a rustic, welcoming look to any room. Especially dark wood like this that, although treated, still appears very natural. There are few problems more annoying than having a small bathroom. But the good news is that there are things that you can do to make your small bathroom look bigger. Below are eight tips that you can use for making your small bathroom look bigger.

1. Use Shelves

One of the best things that you can do to help when your bathroom is small is to use the vertical surfaces with shelving. So that you avoid creating a feeling of a closed-in room because you’ve put up shelves, install narrow, open, eye-level unobtrusive shelves that are the color of your walls. The deeper cabinet shelves should be put up higher.

On your eye-level shelves, the items that you are using often should be stored. These are things such as beauty and toiletry products such as bath lotions and salts in bottles that are attractive and use some designer baskets to hold items such as toilet paper and towels. Items that you don’t use very often, put them higher up.

If you don’t have enough wall space for hanging ample shelves, think about adding some recessed shelves. This can be created by using that empty space in your walls in between the beams. This can be done only on the walls that have been made using drywall. You should also have a professional install this type of shelving.

2. Maximize the Medicine Cabinet

Look at the medicine cabinet. Is it older? If so, think about getting one of the newer ones that are sold. The medicine cabinets that are sold today have a lot of space for storage along with great features such as lockboxes to store prescription medications. Some of them even have towel racks and shelves that are closed and open. Select a cabinet that has shelves of different heights so you’re able to fit everything in it.

3. Tackle Your Toilet Area

It might be due to the location, but the area that’s above your toilet will often go unused. Use this space on the wall by putting a cabinet over your tank. Some of the models are pretty extensive and tall and come with open and closed shelving.

If you’re thinking about replacing your toilet, it’s possible to save room by choosing a toilet with a bowl that’s rounded instead of an elongated, oval one.

4. Organize Your Shower

When you keep conditioners and shampoo in your shower, it will help with freeing up space elsewhere. However, a lot of bottles often becomes unsightly and disorganized. You can get an organizer for your shower or you can get a caddy that can be hung on the arm of the shower if there’s only a couple of bottles.

The corner units which are the same color of your shower or match the bathroom’s décor scheme will offer you a look that’s seamless and a lot of the larger towers have a lot of space for storage. There are also dispensers that you can mount on the wall that can be filled with conditioner and shampoo.

5. Wisely use Sink Space

If there isn’t a cabinet beneath your sink, it’s a good idea to replace your sink with a sink that has that type of cabinet under it or you can install one. It’s also a good idea to choose a sink with countertop since it gives you extra space for storing items that you use often.

6. Redirect Your Door

Does your door swing into your bathroom? If so, it’s a better idea to make it so that it’s swinging out rather than in. You can also use pocket doors that will slide.

7. Trick Your Eyes

Different visual effects will give an illusion of extra space in the bathroom than exists. A mirror that is well placed will reflect light as well as add some depth to your room. Hang a single big mirror in your bathroom and position it so that it’s among the first items that you’re seeing when you come into the bathroom. You can also add a focal point that’s eye-catching such as a plant, sculpture or painting. When you have something attractive that your eyes fall on will remove the focus that it’s a small space.

Painting using neutral, light tones also will help with opening up your room, along with more than one shade of a light color of paint. Choose colors like taupe, off-white, cream and beige along with grey, yellow, muted blue, blue, and pink. If you’re looking for complementary colors that are bright, they can be introduced using accessories such as soap dispensers and towels.

8. Take Advantage of Accessories

Even though adding a couple of items that are purely decorative will work, when it’s possible choose some accessories that are functional as well as attractive. A good choice is some soap dishes and dispensers that are eye-catching along with designer towel racks and hooks for hanging things like towels and clothing. Decorative boxes, tins and towels also will make a great choice when it comes to storing a lot of items in the bathroom.

By maximizing your space and using some smart paint choices, you are going to forget that you have a small bathroom. You will be amazed at what you can do and what a difference it makes. Speak with your designer and see if your kitchens layout will allow you to make your cabinets go up and down and stagger to give a dimensional look. This should not be a major cost difference but will give a major "Wow" factor

Second. Simply by changing your hardware on your doors and drawers can make which huge difference in the appearance of your kitchen. You'll be surprised of all the hardware that's available and how quickly it can transform your kitchen and do something you didn't realize can be possible from simply changing the knobs and handles.

And third, A tile backsplash is always just what a kitchen needs for that final touch of excellence. There is an array of tile made of glass, ceramic, porcelain and travertine to choose from and absolutely give your kitchen the look right out of a page of a magazine.
